AOBA Breed Commision Updates
New Recognized Color Varieties
Dear AOBA Members,
We are pleased to announce an important update from the AOBA Breed Commission regarding the official recognition of new color varieties for three poultry breeds: the Bruges Fighter, Ronquières Turkey, and Waasse Bantam.
Bruges Fighter – New Recognized Color
As of 2025, AOBA has officially recognized the
Dirty White (Splash) variety for the Bruges Fighter. This addition enhances the breed’s diversity and offers breeders more opportunities to work with this striking color.

Ronquières Turkey – New Recognized Colors
AOBA now officially acknowledges three additional color varieties in the Ronquières Turkey that are not yet recognized in Belgium:
- Blue Ermine
- Blue Yellow-shouldered
- Black-winged
These varieties add to the diversity and unique characteristics of the Ronquières Turkey, further strengthening our commitment to preserving and promoting genetic diversity.

Waasse Bantam – New Recognized Colors
We are also expanding the recognized color range of the Waasse Bantam with three new varieties:
- Dirty White (Splash)
- Salmon
- Bronze-tailed/Chocolate

These additions underline AOBA's dedication to supporting breeders and acknowledging the rich genetic potential of African poultry breeding.
We encourage our members to continue their valuable work in breeding, preserving, and promoting these wonderful poultry varieties. If you have any questions or would like further details on these new recognitions, please feel free to reach out to the AOBA Breed Commission.
