DEFINITION

The "living heritage" is defined as the whole of animals belonging to an animal breed that has been recognized as a living heritage breed. The old local breeds of farm animals and farm animals in Africa together form the living heritage. It is about the local breeds of chickens, turkeys, ducks, geese, pigeons, rabbits, dogs, sheep, goats, pigs, cattle and horses. These breeds are often associated with certain regions in our continent. The region of origin is also often mentioned in the name of the breed.
